My Journey of Art, Teaching, and Spiritual Enlightenment

The past few months have been a whirlwind of creativity, connection, growth, and spiritual reflection.
One of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on recently is a workshop I developed this past semester at MCLA, titled Art to Follow One’s Heart. Designed for children in grades 2–5, the
workshop helps students tap into their emotions through hands-on creative projects. Through a combination of meditation and art-making, they explore their voice, identity, and self-expression, ultimately creating finely detailed artwork rooted in emotional awareness. I plan to implement this workshop in the near future.
Meanwhile, my internship with Berkshire Arts Center brought me to Richmond Consolidated School, where I co-taught art to K–5 students alongside my good friend Kristin Grippo. Guiding these young artists and seeing their joy in the process has been a highlight in my year.

I have also finished the illustrations for my novella, Shades of Pride, while studying at MCLA. This work will be featured in an upcoming art show at Roots & Dreams and Mustard Seeds. This organization continues to play a vital role in nurturing local artists like myself. I’m also thrilled to be joining their summer program as an art teacher, working directly with young people to explore their own
creativity.
Outside of school and work, I had the honor of serving as best man and photographer at my best friend Aaron’s wedding. Capturing those moments and standing beside him on such an
important day was a deeply meaningful experience.
I’ve also decided to add music to my resume. My dad, as well as my siblings, are musicians. I have tried to answer the call within myself by learning the keyboard, guitar, electric bass, and upright bass with little success. However, last summer, while taking long drives, I listened to folk violin music. For a year, I felt drawn to the instrument. Then suddenly, I was presented with free lessons and a violin rental. Could this be a sign? Keep me in your prayers as I start this musical journey.

Regarding my spiritual journey, I've long wanted to be true to my faith while also unleashing my creativity. For a while, it felt like these two powerful forces in my life were at odds, unable to coexist. But I've come to realize that truly accepting myself means embracing both my spiritual and creative sides, even when they seem to conflict. In doing so, I’m learning that harmony doesn’t always mean agreement; sometimes, it simply means giving space for both truths to exist.
I feel blessed to be on this journey of faith and creativity. Although it can be a struggle at times, the constant push and pull will shape me into a more creative artist and a more substantial follower of Christ.

The children are so important as they are our future. Only God knows how much of a positive influence your efforts may have on their lives.❤️
